Air Shower Tunnel

An Air Shower Tunnel is a walk-through cleanroom entry system that blows high-velocity, HEPA-filtered air over personnel or materials to remove loose dust, lint, and particles before they enter a controlled area. Unlike a single-person air shower cabin, a tunnel supports continuous movement, making it suitable for high footfall facilities.

How it works

  1. The person enters through a controlled door; interlocks prevent both entry and exit doors from opening simultaneously.

  2. Pre-filtered air passes through HEPA filtration and is discharged through stainless-steel nozzles from the side walls and sometimes ceiling.

  3. The high-velocity air dislodges surface particles from garments and exposed skin areas.

  4. After the set cycle—or continuously, in a walk-through tunnel—the exit door releases and the person enters the clean zone.

  5. Typical specifications

    Parameter Common range / feature
Nozzle air velocity About 20–25 .
HEPA efficiency Typically ≥99.99% for particles ≥0.5 µm
Shower time Adjustable, commonly up to 99 seconds.
Construction Stainless steel SS304/SS316 or powder-coated steel.
Controls PLC/automatic controls, door interlock, induction sensors.
Configuration Single, dual-blow, multi-person, conveyor/material tunnel, custom lengths

    Where it is used

Air shower tunnels are used at entrances to cleanrooms and controlled production areas in pharmaceuticals, electronics, medical devices, laboratories, food processing, and other particle-sensitive manufacturing. They reduce contaminant transfer from personnel, garments, trolleys, and equipment.
