Air Shower Cabinet
An Air Shower Cabinet is a cleanroom entry/transfer unit that blows high-velocity, HEPA-filtered air over a person or material to remove loose surface particles before they enter a controlled area. It is commonly installed between a gowning area and a cleanroom in pharma, biotech, electronics, medical-device, and laboratory facilities.
How it works
-
The operator or material enters through one door.
-
Both doors are electrically interlocked, so only one door can open at a time—preventing unfiltered air exchange.
-
Photoelectric or manual controls start a timed air cycle, typically adjustable from 0–99 seconds.
-
Nozzles direct filtered air at roughly 22–30 m/s, dislodging particles from garments, packaging, or equipment.
-
Air passes through HEPA filtration and recirculates; HEPA filters typically remove 99.99–99.995% of particles at 0.3 µm, while optional ULPA filters can remove 99.9999% at 0.12 µm.
